Why might the bank access initialization fail?

Under certain circumstances, JustOn Cash Management may show an error when initializing the EBICS-based bank access:

pay_app_ebics_ini_error

In the corresponding error report, you will probably find the following detail:

"technical-return-code" : "ebics-invalid-user-or-user-state"

What does this mean?

The error code ebics-invalid-user-or-user-state is returned when an EBICS user tries to send the (correctly generated) authentication key to the bank.

There are various possible reasons:

  • The bank does not know the EBICS user because of a wrong user ID or partner ID.
  • The status of the EBICS user in the bank system does not allow the intended operation because the contract is not yet effective, the user is not yet activated, or the request type is not supported.
  • The bank system's host ID is wrong.

In this case, double-check that your provided user data is correct, including the specified EBICS endpoint URL and host ID as well as your partner ID and user ID.

Generally, this error is produced by the bank. The bank system, however, does not provide specific details why it does not allow the operation – so JustOn's troubleshooting options are limited.

If you are sure that your data is correct, contact your bank in order to analyze the failure and solve the issue.
