How to settle a bank statement item that has no payment?

Usually, the automatic settlement creates a payment for each bank statement item – either settled with a matching entry or unassigned. In certain cases, however, a bank statement item matches an entry but cannot be settled with it, and JustOn Cash Management does not create a payment. The bank statement item then appears in the list view Missing Payment Conversion.

A typical cause is a currency mismatch: the bank statement item matches an entry in a different currency. JustOn Cash Management does not convert amounts between currencies, see Currency Handling in Cash Management.

So how can I settle the bank statement item?

Without a payment, you cannot settle manually. To have JustOn Cash Management create an unassigned payment, you temporarily remove the data that produces the match – usually the reference text:

  1. Open the bank statement item.
  2. Copy the value of the Reference field, and keep it at hand.
  3. Clear the Reference field, and click Save.
  4. Run the automatic settlement for this bank statement item.

For details, see Starting Automatic Settlement on Bank Statement Items.

Without reference text, matching configurations that rely on the reference text do not find the entry. JustOn Cash Management creates an unassigned payment for the bank statement item.

Matching configurations that compare other data, like the account name, or custom matching configurations may still find the entry. In this case, JustOn Cash Management again does not create a payment, and the bank statement item remains in the list view Missing Payment Conversion.

  5. Restore the original value of the Reference field on the bank statement item and on the new payment.

  6. Resolve the currency mismatch and settle the payment manually.

For details, see Resolving Currency Mismatch Between Payment and Entry.
