Which banks and countries does JustOn Cash Management support?
JustOn Cash Management exchanges payment data with banks and executes SEPA payments. What does this mean in an international context? The answer involves two separate questions: which bank you can connect, and where your payments can go.
Summary
You can connect any bank that offers EBICS – mainly banks in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Via this bank, you can send SEPA credit transfers and SEPA direct debits in euro to IBAN accounts across the 41 SEPA countries, including Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Payment orders outside SEPA or in currencies other than euro are not supported. Bank statements in CAMT.053 format can be imported from any bank, regardless of its country and of EBICS.
Which banks can I connect?
JustOn Cash Management connects to your bank via EBICS (Electronic Banking Internet Communication Standard). Any bank that offers EBICS access to its business customers can be connected. The connection covers both directions:
- uploading SEPA orders (SEPA Direct Debit, SEPA Credit Transfer) to your bank
- retrieving bank statements (CAMT.053) from your bank
EBICS is mainly established in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. All German banks associated with the German Banking Industry Committee (Die Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft/DK) support it. Outside these countries, individual banks may offer EBICS as well, usually for corporate customers.
So the limiting factor is the EBICS support of your own bank, not its country. Ask your bank whether it provides EBICS access and the required order types (see Bank Access Requirements).
Where can I send payments?
The location of your bank does not limit where your payments can go. SEPA orders have no country logic: JustOn Cash Management passes the IBAN of the payee or debtor to your bank in the SEPA order file, and your bank routes the payment.
The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) currently comprises 41 countries – the member states of the EU and the EEA, plus Switzerland, the United Kingdom and a number of other European countries. A SEPA payment requires that
- the payment is in euro,
- the account of the payee or debtor is identified by an IBAN,
- the bank of the payee or debtor participates in the relevant SEPA scheme.
Banks in the EU and the EEA must be reachable for SEPA credit transfers and for the SEPA Direct Debit Core scheme. In SEPA countries outside the EU and the EEA, like Switzerland or the United Kingdom, participation is voluntary. In detail:
- SEPA Credit Transfer
- To receive a transfer in a SEPA country outside the EU and the EEA, the payee needs a euro account with an IBAN at a bank that participates in SEPA. In the United Kingdom, for example, fees may be higher than for transfers within the EU.
- SEPA Direct Debit
- Debtor banks in SEPA countries outside the EU and the EEA do not necessarily support SEPA direct debits. The SEPA Direct Debit B2B scheme is optional for all banks.
To check whether a specific bank participates in a SEPA scheme, see the Register of Participants of the European Payments Council.
What is not supported?
The restrictions below apply to outgoing payment orders only – the SEPA credit transfers and SEPA direct debits that JustOn Cash Management creates and sends to your bank. They do not apply to incoming payment data: bank statements in CAMT.053 format can be imported and processed regardless of the bank's country (see Can I work with banks that do not offer EBICS?).
For outgoing payment orders, JustOn Cash Management supports the SEPA schemes only. It does not create
- payment orders in currencies other than euro,
- payment orders to or from accounts outside the SEPA countries,
- cross-border payment orders outside SEPA, which EBICS handles via separate order types.
Can I work with banks that do not offer EBICS?
For incoming payment data, yes. If your bank provides end-of-day statements in CAMT.053 format, you can import these files into JustOn Cash Management – regardless of the bank's country and of EBICS support. For details, see Bank Statement Import.
Note
A bank account uses either the EBICS-based data exchange or the bank statement import, not both (see Configuring Bank Statement Import).
For outgoing SEPA orders, JustOn Cash Management requires an EBICS connection to your bank.
To collect payments via other payment methods, like credit cards, you can integrate payment service providers (see Payment Service Provider Integration).
